React Native Streamdown is a streaming-ready Markdown component built on top of react-native-enriched-markdown and remend.
The library processes raw, incomplete Markdown in the background using the Bundle Mode feature of react-native-worklets, keeping the JS thread free at all times.
Thanks to it, content renders progressively as it arrives, ensuring smooth updates without blocking the UI.
It ships as a single component that accepts a markdown prop you can update token by token as your LLM streams its response.

With React Native Streamdown, Markdown works seamlessly as it streams in. Even partial tokens, open tags, and code blocks that are still in progress appear correctly as they arrive.
Markdown parsing runs on a worklet thread using react-native-worklets' Bundle Mode. This way, the JS thread is completely free — even heavy streaming responses don't block the UI or slow down scrolling.
React Native Streamdown handles inline LaTeX during streaming and applies it automatically as expressions complete. You don't need to configure anything additionally.
React Native Streamdown renders headers, bold, italic, inline code, fenced code blocks, links, and images — all natively, with built-in streaming animation.
As Markdown streams in, each word appears with a subtle animation, creating a dynamic, engaging reading experience that keeps users visually connected to the text as it unfolds.
